Hiking trail

Towards the sun on the Portlahorn. The pure idyll reigns in the morning on the otherwise much-visited mountain peak.

The Portlahorn is a fantastic sunrise tour with a great view and without any major difficulties. Due to its brevity, the tour is a classic if you want to enjoy the morning hour near Damüls. From the summit of the Portlahorn you have a wonderful all-round view: Furkapass, Zimba, Hoher Freschen, Sünserspitze, Ragazer Blanken,...

Directions

The sunrise hike to the Portlahorn guarantees a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. The car park, which offers itself as a starting point, is approx. 300 m from the Furkajoch in the direction of Damüls. From here, the Portlaalpe is already visible on the opposite slope. Passing this, it first goes up to the Portla Fürkele. Here the path splits. Choose the variant pointing to the right towards the Portlahorn. After a short steep climb, the high-altitude trail leads through fields of alpine roses and, in early summer, richly blooming alpine flora to the summit cross. The way back is on the same path.

Suggestions

It's worth getting up early for. The feeling upon arrival paired with the fantastic play of light makes up for all the effort by far!
