A gravel-bike trip of around 56 kilometres with gradients and beautiful views from Mellau to Schetteregg and over the Brüggelekopf and Schwarzenberg back to the starting point.

The route from Mellau takes the Bregenzerwald cycle path to Egg. That’s where the ascent across the Ebenwald lot to the beautifully located Schetteregg hiking area with its numerous holiday homes starts. The route finally returns through Fallenbach back to Großdorf and then to Lingenau. It then follows the main road to Müselbach. The ascent with views up to Kaltenbrunnen, the highest lot above Egg, commences after the Hochbrücke. A freight trail then leads up to the Brüggelekopf, the highest point on this cycling trip. The route then finally descends through the Lorenapass to the village of Schwarzenberg and follows the road and cycle path back to Mellau.

Safety information

- Responsible cycling at controlled speeds where the view is obstructed particularly in bends because obstacles must be anticipated at all times: stones, branches, road damage, temporarily stored wood, grazing livestock, cattle gates, barriers, vehicles and forestry machinery, road closures, etc.

- Hikers and pedestrians have the right of way. Considerate overtaking takes place at a walking pace.

- Agricultural and forestry management has the right of way on the open paths. Cattle gates must be closed again, temporary road closures must be observed.

- Do not leave the designated, signposted routes. That protects nature and wildlife habitats.

- Good tour planning takes the difficulty of the route and your own abilities into account. That also includes helmet, protective equipment and a bike that is in perfect working order.
